Whoa! I recently had an epiphany! It probably won't be mind blowing to you, because you've heard it before, but I just always thought; 'naaaahhhhh, it doesn't affect me that way...'
Turns out, it does!
Ever feel inadequate about your life and appearance after scrolling through Facebook?
Yah, me too.
Now, I know I touched on this in my blog post called '40' when I talked about concentrating more on experiences rather than the 'stuff' I have or how I look. Well, it's a work in progress, that's for sure. I sometimes feel that the things that used to make me happy aren't good enough. Why? Because I can now compare myself and what I have and have accomplished to other people, places and things at the push of a button. Instantly.
Its not that we couldn't compare ourselves to one another when social media didn't exist; its just that now, it is SO accessible and in your face.
It takes work but the first step is realizing that you're feeling bad and discovering why; if you're truly friends with someone, then what they have or have accomplished shouldn't bother you at all; in fact, you should encourage and celebrate them, no? Yes!

Be Kind! and if you can't, scroll on by and zip it.

I find it's a fabulous way to keep in touch, especially with people who are far away.I'm too old to care if someone has more or does more than me. I concentrate on the relationships. Do I vent? Oh for sure, but usually about politics or abuse (animal or otherwise). I rarely/never engage in arguments with someone I don't know because I really don't care about their opinion. I belong to quite a number of private sites where I learn about stuff (art, Indigenous affairs). I enjoy funny posts from…
